CROWNS AND BRIDGES IN GLENDALE

Crowns and bridges are a type of prosthetic that repairs damaged teeth as well as fills in gaps of missing teeth. A bridge acts as a fill-in for missing teeth and is attached to the teeth nearby while a crown works like a cap for a tooth. These are a great options for damaged or missing teeth and, because of that, it is relatively easy fix to oral issues of this type.

DIFFERENCE OF CROWNS AND BRIDGES

All About Crowns

When a tooth is damaged a crown may be used as a cap for the tooth. This allows the tooth to be strengthened and protected so no further damage is done. Crowns can be made of various materials, usually, the materials to choose from are gold, alloy, or porcelain. A crown also allows for some other improvements including appearance, alignment, and shape. With these improvements, chewing and talking will be easier, and it may even reduce pain or irritation caused by the tooth.

All About Bridges

Bridges are used as a way to fill in gaps where teeth are missing. Bridges also come in various materials, but porcelain or ceramic options are the most popular because the color of them can be matched with your natural teeth, which is important to make them look as natural as possible. There are usually two crowns, one on each side, and a false tooth in the middle of a bridge. The false tooth is placed in the gap where the missing tooth is located, and the crowns attach to a tooth on either side. A “pontic” is another name for this replacement tooth, while the two sides where the false tooth is anchored are called “abutments”.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Reductions in the size of the tooth are important when fitting crowns and bridges. If a crown or bridge is placed on a tooth without reduction, it wouldn’t fit properly into the space and would appear bulkier than the rest of a patient’s natural teeth.

What a great dental office. I was just in there today and the people are amazing! My oldest daughter and I were scheduled to get our teeth cleaned at the same time, but I had to bring my year and a half old daughter with us, it was daddy’s day while mommy had to run errands. They helped out so much so I could get my teeth cleaned until my oldest was done and she could watch her. Great people!

This place is awesome. The atmosphere is dope. The staff is very nice and friendly. The place is so inviting. The exams and cleanings are VERY THOROUGH. They don’t just clean and send you own your way. They ask questions and get to know YOU. This was the best dental visit I’ve ever had.
